Spartacus International Gay Guide is the most popular magazine targeted at gay men; today, it is online only and runs as a travel guide for gay events and local spots friendly to the gay community. The founder of the group, John Stamford, was a businessman from Lancashire who had once trained to be a priest. When PIE was broken up, Stamford stated that the prosecution of its members was disgraceful. After founding Spartacus, Stamford moved the business's operations to Amsterdam and began reissuing the magazine under his new company, Euro Spartacus. The following year, in 1972, John Stamford was convicted for sending material through the mail in the magazine. Regardless, quickly, the magazine began to grow in size and sales, and almost overnight, it became the most successful travel publication for gay men across the world. For years, Spartacus was quite literally a guide for pedophiles to show them where they could go to without any consequences. In some countries, like Thailand, the hotels would even provide children.
Clarence Osbourne was an Australian CP producer and the main point of contact for senior PIE members. He allegedly took his own life after Queensland police discovered three truckloads of detailed notes, illicit recordings, and photographs at his home. About a year later in 1980, an anonymous juvenile aid bureau detective went down to the supplies room to grab a new notebook. When he went down there, he noticed dozens of boxes on the shelves that were labeled Osborne. Inside those boxes were the index cards that Clarence Osborne kept that authorities had discovered inside of his home. He claimed to have recognized a lot of the names that he saw in those index cards, including the names of prominent figures in the community and members of the national government; he said that there wasn't a single average citizen on there. These were all people that were very well known, not only in Australia, but across the world. The next year, another young detective was transferred to that same juvenile aid bureau, and together with the guy who had discovered those index cards, the two of them started digging through the Osborne boxes together, finding magazines printed in different languages, which meant they were clearly being provided to countries all over the world. They described what they saw as an actual tourist guide for and they claimed that the would come to Brisbane, Australia from other countries to meet the children that were advertised in these magazines and do god knows what to them. And they believed that all this was being organized and set up and facilitated by Clarence Osborne. There was correspondence discovered between Clarence Osborn and John Stanford that suggested that Clarence Osborn was the Spartacus Network's travel guide for those who visited Australia.
John Stamford was friends with Frank Sheldon of the North Fox Island operation, and Sparticus International was caught running the Elm House ch**d-brothel in London frequented by British MPs and members of government.
