PROMIS - PROMIS was created by Inslaw in the 70s as legal case-tracking software for public prosecutors' offices.
In 1982, the DoJ intentionally banktrupted Inslaw by withholding contract payments, then had contractor, Michael Riconosciuto modify PROMIS so the US government could use it as a spyware.
In 1982, Riconosciuto's best friend, and money launderer for his off-the-books dealings with the government, Paul Morasca, was found tortured in his apartment, hog tied such that his movements would suffocate him. Morasca's girlfriend told police that he spent the final days of his life terrified that he was being pursued by a CIA hitman named Jason Smith, later discovered by investigators to be an alias for FBI informant, Phillip Arthur Thompson.
During the ongoing Inslaw-DoJ suit, Riconosciuto fed information to journalist Danny Casolaro, then in 1991, provided an affidavit stating that with his help, the US government had illegally modified PROMIS, and that a DoJ official threatened him with prosecution if he went public with this information.
That same year, Riconosciuto received 20 years in prison on a drug charge, later extended to 30 years.
Danny Casolaro submitted a book proposal to New York publisher Little, Brown and Company about findings related to the PROMIS scandle among other things. Weeks later, he would tell his brother: "I'm getting these strange phone calls saying, 'You're gonna die.'" He famously warned his brother, "If anything happens to me, it won't be an accident." The next day he was found in a bathtub with his wrists slashed to a point that his hands were falling off, in a manor correnors said was impossible.
The US handed PROMIS over to the Israelis who used Israeli spy, media mogul, Robert Maxwell (father of cheif Epstein recruiter, Ghislaine Maxwell) to sell a bugged version of it to other countries so they could spy on them. Israel's NSO Group used PROMIS as the basis for their Pegasus spyware, used by the Israeli government, among others, to surveil your phone.
The NSA then launched its PRISM program forcing nine internet service providers to hand over billions of emails to government data farms; their Upstream collection came from the NSA cutting into undersea internet cables; XKeyscore is an NSA system which captures everything a user does on the internet. This goes beyong the US: The Five Eyes (FVEY) is an alliance between Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK, and the US, which shares intelligence through global surveillance and interception system, ECHELON.
The NSA built a data center in Bluffdale Utah costing $1.6B. Now there are penty of others across the country, consuming millions of gallons of drinking water daily for evaporative cooling, depleting local municipal supplies while discharging chemical-laden wastewater runoff, some of which goes into locla water-ways, destroying aquatic habitats, in-turn poisoning the food chain, altering bird migration patterns.
In 2013, Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, committed purgery by lying under oath in Congress, denying that the NSA doesn't collect data on millions of Americans.
Edward Snowden - After the Snowden leaks in 2013, the NSA's surveillance was later ruled unlawfel in 2020 by the US Federal Appeals Court (Ninth Circuit). Edward Snowden worked as a systems analyst and infrastructure specialist defense contractors (Dell and Booz Allen Hamilton) assigned to the NSA. He started transderring classified documents onto encrypted drives, then fled to Hong Kong, where de diseminated the information on what the NSA was doing to Gaurdian journalist Glen Greenwald and documentary film maker Laura Poitras. Snowden now lives as a fugitive in Russia.
