The Nakba
During the 1948 Palestine War, 750,000 Palestinians were ethnically cleansed by Irgun and Hagenah militia groups under the orders of Jewish Agency leader and future prime minister David Ben-Gurion, orchestrated in what was called Plan Dalet. 1000 were killed in the year after the war, when Palestinian refugees tried to return home. According to Israeli historian Benny Morris, Zionist forces perpetrated 24 massacres of Palestinians throughout. IDF veterans gleefully recolect killing of Paestinian civilians during this time.
Lydde Death March - The forced expulsion of approximately 50.000 to 70.000 Palestinian residents from the cities of Lydda (now Lod) and Ramla over several days. The Israeli military gave the residents of Lydde an ultimatum to leave within half an hour. Most able-bodied men were detained and sent to prison camps, not including 175 to 250 who were killin inside the cities great mosque, leaving mostly women, children, and the elderly being forced to march on foot for 15 to 25 kilometers under the summer heat to reach the Arab Legion lines near Ramallah. Between hundreds to over a thousand died along the rugged path due to extreme thirst, dehydration, and sheer physical exhaustion. Testimonies often mention low-flying Israeli military planes hovering over the marching lines, forcing civilians to keep moving.
Tantura Massacre - Carried out by Haganah's Alexandroni Brigade during a night raid; dollowing Tantura's surrender, Israeli forces rounded up the population on the beach. Women and children were separated from young men aged roughly 13 to 30. Groups of young men were lined up against walls or open spaces and systematically executed. : Historical estimates of the dead range from several dozen to over 200 Palestinians.
Dier Yasin Massacre - The Deir Yasin massacre was carried out by approximately 120 to 130 fighters from the Irgun and Lehi, (the Stern Gang) with Haganah providing artillery support and helped secure the area. Historians agree that between 107 and 120 villagers were killed, including dozens of women, children, and elderly people

Operaton Cast Lead (2008)
After humiliation in Lebanon, Israel took out its frustration on Gaza's civilian populatoin.
''We will wield disproportionate power against every village from which shots are fired at Israel, and cause immense damage and destruction. What happened in the Dehiya quarter of Beirut in 2006 will happen in every village from which Israel is fired on. This isn't a suggestion, this is a plan that has already been authorized.'' - Gadi Eizenkot, Head of IDF Northern Command.
''The IDF should decide on a neighborhood in gaza and level it.'' - Meir Sheetrit, Interior Minister
According to the UN fact-finding mission following the 2008 invasion the purpose was simply ''to punish humiliate and terrorize a civilian population.''
''It should be possible to destroy gaza so they will understand not to mess with us. It is a great opportunity to demolish thousands of houses thousands of houses tunnels and industries will be demolished.'' - Eli Yishai, Deputy Prime Minister
Protective Edge (2014)
Israel banned human rights organizations from entering Gaza during and after the war.
2,200 Gazans killed, 1,500 of which were civilians and 550 were children.
18,000 Gazan homes were destroyed.
Schools
Israel destorys 22 schools and damaged 118 others, claming they held Hamas weapons, which human rights groups and the UN debunked. They also targeted UN run schools being used to shelter civilians: UN elementary school in Beit Hanoun, killing 13, a UN boys' school in Rafah, killing 12, a UN girls elementary school in Jabalya, killing 20. The precise location of the Jabalia girls school was communicated to the Israeli army 17 times, according to UNRWA. Israel possesed GPS coordinates of all of these facilites. Plus, UN Relief and Works Agency sent twice daily communications to Israel's coordinator of the government activities in the territories and coordination and liaison administration, informing them of the global positioning system coordinates of premises currently being used as designated emergency shelters.
Hospitals
Israel destoryed or damaged 17 hospitals, 56 primary care facilites and 45 ambulences. Gaza's only rehab centre, al-Wafaa hospital was completely destroyed. To justify this, Israel tweeted a photo alleging a rocket to be fired from al-Wafaa, but Amnasty Inernational found that the image did not match satalite imaged of al-Wafaa, appearing to depict a different location entirely.
IDF soldier: '''See that house on the left? shoot it' Boom, we shoot it, and for no reason at all. There was no intelligence on that house, my platoon commander and I just chose it. ...and so every tank just fired wherever it wanted to and people lived there, but still nobody fired at us. We were just shooting for no reason.''

Death toll
The Gaza Health Ministry's death toll as of march 2025 is estimated at 75,000, not including missing people, those who starved to death, died of disease, or babies which died in incubators and hospital patients when Israel cut off the electricity. (It is had to gague due to Israel's blockade) In January 2026, IDF officials briefed journalists that this number was considered broadly accurate. previously, the IDF had counted only military targets.
Accounding for descrepencies, the toll is estimated at 130,000. (Untangling Threads on Substack)
Infrastructure
92% of Infrastructure damaged or destroyed.
Sewage facilities were hit, leaving solid waste accumulating in the streets.
The Jabalia refugee camp, according to AP, was been razed to the ground. The camp had a population of 100,000 in just one half of one square mile. Its population density was higher than that of Manila, the highest of any city in the world.
Refugee camps bombed
Jabalia Refugee Camp - Estemated casualties in the hundreds.
Al-Maghazi Refugee Camp - Over 150 killed; took place on christmas eve, mirroring the Biblical massacre of the innocence.
Al-Nuseirat Refugee Camp - Over 350+ killed
Al-Shati (Beach) Refugee Camp - Dozens killed
Rafah Tent Camps (Tel al-Sultan) - Estimated 45 to 50 killed
Shutting off electricity
Israel cut off its main electricity supplies to the Gaza Strip on 8 October 2023, one day after the Hamas-led attacks on Israel. This action was part of a "complete siege" declared on the territory, which also included the blocking of food, water, and fuel imports. Following this Israeli cutoff, Gaza's sole power plant was forced to shut down completely on 11 October 2023 due to a lack of fuel, resulting in a widespread electricity blackout across the region. While some limited power was temporarily restored to specific infrastructure (such as a wastewater treatment facility and a desalination plant) in late 2024, Israel officially ordered the immediate halt of its remaining electricity supply to these facilities in March 2025.
Al-Shifa Hospital (Northern Gaza) - During the siege in November 2023, the facility's neonatal intensive care unit ran out of fuel, turning off incubators and oxygen supplies, resulting in the deaths of multiple premature babies prior to the forced evacuation of survivors. Medics were forced to wrap the vulnerable infants in thermal blankets and foil in an attempt to keep them warm.
Al-Nasr Hospital (Northern Gaza) - Following frenzied evacuations in late 2023, several infants dependent on life support and incubators were tragically left behind in the ICU and later found deceased.
Southern Hospitals (Nasser, Al-Aqsa, and others) - As displaced populations swelled and fighting moved south, hospitals in Khan Younis and central Gaza repeatedly faced total blackouts due to fuel blockades. Doctors have warned of babies freezing to death in severe winter conditions and facing imminent demise when backup generators run dry
Orders to move to safe zone before bombing safe zones
Initial Push Southward: In October 2023, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) ordered over one million residents of northern Gaza to evacuate south of Wadi Gaza for their safety. Despite these directives, southern cities like Khan Younis and Rafah were subjected to continuous, intensifying airstrikes immediately after the mass migration.
Targeting of Transit Routes: Fleeing civilians utilizing designated "safe routes," such as Salah al-Din Street, have faced deadly attacks. For instance, a BBC Verify investigation confirmed a fatal strike on a civilian convoy along one of these mandated evacuation paths.
The Humanitarian and Safe Zones: Areas repeatedly designated by Israel as humanitarian safe havens—such as the coastal strip of al-Mawasi, parts of Deir al-Balah, and the city of Rafah—have been routinely targeted by airstrikes and subsequent ground incursions. Independent analyses, including a CNN investigative report, verified multiple specific Israeli strikes hitting civilian blocks that the IDF had explicitly directed families to escape to.
Air strikes
Ahmed al Najjar - Ahmed al Najjar, age 1, was decapitated by an Israeli missile in the Tel al-Sultan area of Rafah, which was previously designated as a safe zone.
Osama Taha Abu Nada - Osama Taha Abu Nada was decapitated by an air strike on his home in Al-Nusairat Camp this night. Osama’s father, mother, and four sisters were also killed in the same strike.
Ground troops killing civilians
Hand cuffed women and children buried alive - In 2024 a press conference by Hamas's Civil Defense Service relayed the discovery of 392 bodies from the the grounds of Nasser hospital, some of which having been handcuffed, blindfolded and put into plastic bags, with suspicions that they had been buried alive. There were also indications that their organs had been stolen. (𓃠)
On November 30, 2023 +972 Magazine published anonymous interviews with IDF sources, which revealed the following information.
Hind Rajab - In 2024 Hind Rajab was fleeing Gaza City with six family members when their car came under fire. She survived the initial attack, hiding among the bodies of her relatives, and spent hours pleading for help over the phone with emergency workers at the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS). A PRCS ambulance was dispatched to save her. After receiving coordinates and clearance to approach, the ambulance and the two paramedics inside were also killed by Israeli tank fire as they neared the scene.
Due to Israel enforcing a total blockade, Gazans saught to go to Egypt, but the Israeli air force bombed their only way out at Rafah crossing, which remained closed, preventing aid from coming in.
In a radio interview, Brigadier-General (Reserve) Zvika Fogel described how a sniper identifies the “small body” of a child and is given authorization to shoot.

Doghmosh family massacre - Daniel Raab, a former varsity basketball player from a Chicago suburb who became an Israeli sniper, showed no hesitation as he watches footage of 19-year-old Salem Doghmosh crumpling to the ground beside his brother in a street in northern Gaza. “That was my first elimination,” he says. The Palestinian teenager appears to be unarmed when he is shot in the head. Raab concedes he knew that. He says he shot Salem simply because he tried to retrieve the body of his beloved older brother Mohammed. “It’s hard for me to understand why he [did that] and it also doesn’t really interest me,” Raab says in a video interview posted on X. “I mean, what was so important about that corpse?” “They’re thinking: ‘Oh I don’t think [I’ll get shot] because I’m wearing civilian clothes and I am not carrying a weapon and all that, but they were wrong,” said Raab, who majored in biology at the University of Illinois before joining the Israel Defense Forces. “That’s what you have snipers for.” After Salem was shot, his father, Montasser, 51, rushed to the site, and tried to collect his sons’ bodies for burial, but was also fatally injured by a sniper. Raab says that ''women and children are a whole debate with command''.

The Flour Massacre (2/29) - On video, the IDF opened fire on thousands of civilians waiting for food aid southwest of Gaza City, causing trucks to speed off running over more. At least 112 Palestinians were killed and more than 750 were wounded.
6/1/25 - On the first day of GHF distributions in southwestern Rafah, Israeli forces fired tanks and quadcopters into the crowd, killing 31 Palestinians. The IDF stated it fired "warning shots".
6/3 - Israeli tanks and helicopters fired near the al-Alam roundabout in western Rafah, killing at least 27 people waiting for aid. Doctors treated dozens of victims with severe 5.56mm and 7.62mm bullet wounds.

7/14 - Israeli artillery shelled the GHF distribution site in the As Shakoush area of northwestern Rafah, killing two and injuring nine.
7/19–20 - Gunfire at a northern Gaza distribution point killed 93 Palestinians waiting for UN aid lorries. Simultaneously, live ammunition fire at a southern location killed over 30 others.
7/30 - On July 30, Israeli forces opened fire near the Netzarim and Murag corridors, killing 49 Palestinians in a single day as they attempted to reach newly permitted aid trucks
Netzarim Corridor - Haaretz: quoting a senior officer in southern command: ''it's astonishing to hear the reports after every operation regarding how many terrorists were killed he says explaining you don't need to be a genius to realize that you don't have hundreds or dozens of armed men running through the streets of Khan Yunis or Jabalia fighting the IDF.''
IDF soldiers who served in Gaza told Haaretz that anyone who crosses an imaginary line in the contested narim Corridor is shot to death with every Palestinian casualty counting as a terrorist even if they were just a child. while senior Israeli Defense Forces officials might deny its existence in the heart of the Gaza Strip north of the narim corridor nothing is more real. the forces in the field call it the line of dead bodies a commander in division 252 tells haritz. ''after shootings bodies are not collected attracting packs of dogs who come to eat them in Gaza people know that wherever you see these dogs that's where you must not go''
the narim corridor stretches from kibuts beeri to the Mediterranean Coast it has been completely demolished and everyone living there has been forced out
quoting a senior officer in division 252 who has served three Reserve rotations in Gaza the division Commander designated this area a Kill Zone anyone who enters is shot
recently discharged division 252 officer: ''for the division the Kill Zone extends as far as a sniper can see but the the issue goes beyond geography we're killing civilians there who are then counted as terrorists he says the IDF spokesperson's announcements about casualty numbers have turned this into a competition between units. if division 99 kills 150 people the next unit aims for 200.''
veteran fighter from division 252: ''the order was clear anyone crossing the bridge into the narum corridor gets a bullet in the head... One time guards spotted someone approaching from the south we responded as if it was a large militant raid. we took positions and just open fire I'm talking about dozens of bullets maybe more for about a minute or two we just kept shooting at the body. people around me were shooting and laughing... we approached the blood covered body photographed it and took the phone he was just a boy maybe 16 an intelligence officer collected the items and hours later the Fighters learned the boy wasn't a Hamas operative but just a civilian that evening our Battalion Commander congratulated us for killing a terrorist saying he hoped we'd kill 10 more tomorrow. when someone pointed out that he was unarmed and looked like a civilian everyone shouted him down the commander said anyone crossing the line is a terrorist no exceptions no civilians everyone's a terrorist.''
An officer in division 22's command recalls when the IDF spokesperson announced their forces had killed over 200 militants. standard procedure requires photographing bodies and collecting details when possible then sending evidence to intelligence to verify militant status or at least confirm they were killed by the IDF he explains. of those 200 casualties only 10 were confirmed as known Hamas operatives yet no one questioned the Public Announcement about killing hundreds of militants.
Another fighter describes witnessing four unarmed people walking normally spotted by a surveillance drone despite clearly not appearing as militants a tank Advanced an open fire with its machine gun of bullets he recalls three died immediately the sight haunts me he said while the fourth survived and raised his hands in surrender we put him in a cage set up near our position stripped off his clothes and left him there. soldiers passing by spat on him it was disgusting finally a military interrogator came questioned him briefly while holding a gun to his head then ordered his release the man had simply been trying to reach his uncles in Northern Gaza later officers praised us for killing terrorists I couldn't understand what they meant after a day or two the bodies were buried by a bulldozzer in the sand.
other incidents are revealed through interviews with troubled reservists a man from division 99 describes watching a drone feed showing an adult with two children crossing the Forbidden line ''they were walking unarmed seemingly searching for something we had them under complete surveillance with the Drone and weapons aimed at them they could couldn't do anything suddenly we heard a massive explosion a combat helicopter had fired a missile at them who thinks it's legitimate to fire a missile at children and with a helicopter this is pure evil''.
Brigadier General Yehuda vak declared there are no Innocents in Gaza according to one officer while such sentiment isn't uncommon among Soldiers with vo it wasn't just opinion it became operational Doctrine everyone's a terrorist including children.
NYT: ''while our editors have photographs to corroborate the CT scan images because of their graphic nature we decided these photos of children with gunshot wounds to the head or neck were too horrific for publication''
Dr sidwa is a trauma and general surgeon who worked at the European Hospital in cunis Gaza for 2 weeks in March and April I ''I volunteered in Ukraine and Haiti and I grew up in Flint Michigan sidwa wrote I've seen violence and worked in Conflict zones but of the many things that stood out about working in a hospital in Gaza one got to me nearly every day I was there I saw a new young child who had been shot in the head or the chest virtually all of whom went on to die 13 in total... after returning home I met an emergency medicine physician who had worked in a different hospital in Gaza 2 months before me I couldn't believe the number of kids I saw shot in the head I told him. to my surprise he responded yeah me too every single day.
not satisfied with two doctor testimonies sidwa interviewed 65 doctors nurses and paramedics who had been in Gaza 44 of them saw multiple cases of pre-teen children who had been shot in the head or chest in Gaza a surgeon Dr Muhammad rasul Abu Noir told the interviewer ''One Night in the emergency department over the course of 4 hours I saw six children between the ages of 5 and 12 all with single gunshot wounds to the skull'' Dr Mark pmut said ''I saw several children shot with high velocity bullet wounds in both the head and chest'' from Dr Iran Gallaria ''RT te cared for about four or five children ages 5 to 8 years old that were all shot with single shots to the Head they all presented to the emergency room at the same time they all died'' Dr Nadal far ''it was almost a daily occurrence to have children arrive at the hospital with gunshot wounds to the Head''.

“In the past, we did not regularly mark the homes of junior Hamas members for bombing... In my time, if the house I was working on was marked Collateral Damage 5, it would not always be approved [for attack].” Such approval, he said, "would only be received if a senior Hamas commander was known to be living in the home... To my understanding, today they can mark all the houses of [any Hamas military operative regardless of rank]... That is a lot of houses. Hamas members who don’t really matter for anything live in homes across Gaza. So they mark the home and bomb the house and kill everyone there.”
On Oct. 10, the Israeli Air Force bombed an apartment building in Gaza’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, killing 40 people. (𓃠) Amnesty investigated the attack and discovered that a Hamas member lived on one of the upper floors of the building, but was not present at the time of the attack. (𓃠)

bombing places they tell them to go
A recent investigation by EuroMedHR revealed that on December 4, 2023, Israeli drones deliberately killed 12 civilians and injured three others in Gaza City. The attacks targeted the Abu El-Enin family, including women and children, who had been displaced. The killings occurred without combat, following Israeli orders to evacuate.
