Nonprofits (Elite Sex Crimes)

Oxfam - An internal Oxfam investigation and subsequent inquiries revealed that senior aid workers used underage prostitutes at a charity-rented villa in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake. No one got arrested but a few people got fired.

Vatican gay orgy - Vatican police are said to have broken up a gay sex orgy at the home of a secretary to one of the Pope's main advisors. The location belonged to the Vatican's congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith. Illegal drugs are also said to have been found at the location. The Vatican Church's connection to the drug trade go much deeper than that though.

And then there's the claims that a certain graveyard fund is actually intended as hush money for victims and those around them.

Church Tax - Pope Sixtus IV for example was known to collect a church tax on prostitutes and charge priests for keeping mistresses. By one account there ware 6800 public prostitutes in Rome in 1490, which was a huge number in proportion to the population.

Banquette of Chestnuts - Pope Alexander VI' son Cesare Borgia reportedly held what was called a banquette of chestnuts at the Papal palace. The account of this event describes there being 50 prostitutes that were made to crawl on their hands and knees picking up chestnuts, and that it later turned into a competition of who could have sex with the prostitutes the most often.

Pope Leo X - Pope Leo X was said to be exceedingly devoted to the flesh and to have saw the Papal court as a center of amusement. He is said to have engages in excessive luxuries and drained the papal treasury during his time as Pope. To make more money he began selling indulgences. Basically this meant that Catholics were told that they could be forgiven for their sins in exchange for a fee.

Priest Shuffling - The practice of moving abusive priests from parish to parish is known as priest shuffling, wherein offenders will sometimes get sent somewhere to for spiritual council and rehabilitation, only to be put to work somewhere else. The Boston Globe’s Spotlight Team revealed the church’s secret protection of pedophile priests in a series of articles which had international repercussions.

Father John Geoghan - Father John Geoghan was repeatedly accused of abusing boys starting in the 1960s. Over three decades, Cardinal Law and his predecessors moved Geoghan through six different parishes. At each new assignment, the local community and parents were left entirely unaware of his history, enabling him to abuse more than 130 children before his ultimate arrest.
A multi-year government inquiry by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse laid bare systemic cover-ups across Australia, with Ballarat serving as a primary case study.
Bishop Ronald Mulkearns - Bishop Ronald Mulkearns, who led the diocese from 1971 to 1997, explicitly admitted to moving known child abusers between parishes. He testified that his primary goal was to protect the reputation of the church.
Gerald Risdale - Gerald Ridsdale was an Australian Catholic priest who became known as one of the country's most notorious and prolific serial child sex offenders. Over a period spanning three decades, he was convicted of over 130 counts of child abuse against more than 70 children. In total, he spent over thirty years in prison before his death behind bars on 18 February 2025 at the age of 90. For over 30 years, senior church officials systematically shielded Ridsdale. Rather than reporting his crimes to the police, leadership repeatedly moved him to protect the church's reputation, allowing him to abuse at least 72 children
Cardinal George Pell - Pell was accused and convicted of assaulting two choirboys in Melbourne in the 1990s. He was was convicted in 2018 of historical child sexual abuse, but Australia's High Court unanimously quashed and overturned those convictions in 2020, ruling that there was a significant possibility an innocent person had been convicted.
The commission examined Pell's involvement in meetings regarding serial abuser priest Gerald Ridsdale in the 1980s. While Pell maintained he was not fully informed of the reasons behind Ridsdale's transfers between parishes, the commission rejected aspects of his testimony regarding what was known at the time.
Pell admitted during testimonies that he failed to act on information given to him casually by a young boy in 1974 regarding misconduct by Christian Brother Edward Dowlan.
Father John Geoghan - A Boston priest who molested roughly 150 children. His case became a focal point of the global Catholic sexual abuse crisis after being exposed by The Boston Globe’s Spotlight team in 2002. Geoghan was defrocked, convicted, and later murdered in prison.
Marcial Maciel - The founder of the ultra-conservative order Legionaries of Christ, Maciel was one of the 20th century's most influential yet notorious abusers. An internal report released by the congregation confirmed he abused at least 60 minors alongside fathering secret children, shielded for decades by high-level institutional protection.
Theodore McCarrick - The former Archbishop of Washington and Cardinal became the highest-ranking official in modern Church history to be defrocked for sexual abuse. Stripped of his rank in 2019 following a Vatican investigation, his case exposed how severe allegations were ignored or minimized by top church hierarchy over decades.
Peter Ball - The 2018 Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse, (IICSA) investigated how the Church of England and authorities handled the case of Peter Ball, the former Bishop of Gloucester who was jailed in 2015 for sexually abusing 18 young men and boys. Ball was also a long-time friend of then Prince Charles III. Although initially called upon for cross-examination in the enquiry, lawyers for the Prince argued that the public inquiry did not have the legal power to compel a member of the royal family to submit a formal witness statement or appear for oral cross-examination. They utilized human rights law to block efforts to force a standard statement.

Baptist Church - In 2017, Paul Pressler, a former Texas representative and state judge, and an important figure in the 2nd Baptist Church, was accused of molesting a 14-year old boy beginning in 1979, while Pressler was a justice on Texas’ 14th Court of Appeals. The alleged abuse continued until 2004. The following year Pressler was also accused of molesting two men and soliciting them for sex over a period of 14 years. The men were a former member of a church youth group and a lawyer who work worked for Pressler’s law firm.  Paul Pressler died on June 7, 2024, never facing jail time or punishment for the abuse.

In February 2019, the Houston Chronicle released a 6-part investigation titled Abuse of Faith, exposing the depth and depravity of the allegations of sexual abuse involving not only Pressler, but other members of 2nd Baptist Church leadership. The investigation found that more than more than 250 people who worked or volunteered in Southern Baptist churches had been charged with sex crimes. Since 1998, around 380 Southern Baptist church leaders and volunteers have faced allegations of sexual misconduct. About 220 offenders have been convicted or took plea deals, and dozens of cases are pending. These abusers left behind more than 700 victims, many of whom were shunned by their churches. Some were urged to forgive their abusers or pressured to get abortions after becoming pregnant.

Gerard Jerry Howell - Gerard Jerry Howell was a former priest who was accused of... 24 children. Handfuls of people have come forward over the years claiming that Gerald Jerry Howell them while they were members of the Catholic Church and at the Catholic Center for the Hearing Impaired that he started in 1967. Kathy Austin and her sister Darlene went public with their stories of Gerard Jerry Howell as far back as 1992, but the Archdiocese simply refused to remove him from ministry. New Orleans Archbishop Philip Hannon reported Howell to Judge Harry Connick Sr. in 1980, but Connick, a known Catholic, never filed a single charge against him, even though there were multiple victims.

Dino Senal - Another Catholic priest at the time, Dino Senal, was caught with CP, which he had produces, in his room at the rectory of St. Rita's Roman Catholic Church in New Orleans in 1988. Investigators at the time found magazine articles about... graphic photographs of underage boys and homemade videos of Dino Senal at least seven different boys, sometimes inside of the church building itself. Despite this mountain of evidence, Harry Connick Sr. claimed that the case was too weak to prosecute. In 1990, Gary Raymond, an investigator for the district attorney's office, begged Harry Connick Sr. to prosecute Dino Senal in a three-page letter that he personally wrote to him. When asked about when he was going to prosecute Dino Senal, Harry Connick Sr. said: ''never as long as I'm the DA.'' Dino Senal was later given a minor charge of possession of pornography, which was later dismissed on a technicality; he never faced justice from the state, but he was murdered while trying to abuse another child in a foreign country.

Buddhism - In one of the most shocking drug enforcement cases involving clergy, 22 Buddhist monks were arrested at Colombo's main international airport after arriving from Bangkok. Customs officials discovered a record 110 kilograms (242 pounds) of potent Kush cannabis hidden behind false walls inside their luggage. The group consisted mostly of young student monks whose travel had been financed by a local businessman.
Shortly after the drug bust, the Venerable Pallegama Hemarathana Thero, one of Sri Lanka's highest-ranking and most powerful monks, was arrested for the alleged statutory rape and sexual assault of an underage girl. Hemarathana was the chief prelate of several highly revered sacred Buddhist sites.
The country's National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) disclosed that between 2023 and 2026, complaints were filed against 285 different Buddhist monks for child abuse, with over 70% involving sexual offenses.
Thailand has grappled with rampant methamphetamine (yaba) use within various rural monasteries. In a famous incident in Phetchabun province, an entire temple’s staff of monks, including the abbot, tested positive for meth, forcing authorities to defrock the entire group and send them to rehabilitation, leaving the village temple completely empty. Additional anti-drug raids in 2025 and mid-2026 repeatedly exposed abbots and local monks hoarding meth pills, alcohol, and pornography in their quarters.
Thai authorities have prosecuted several prominent monks for weaponizing their positions of spiritual trust to exploit children.
A monk known as "Pra Chai" was convicted and sentenced to a lengthy prison term for orchestrating a human trafficking ring that targeted 15 to 17-year-old boys.
In Chiang Mai, five Buddhist abbots were defrocked and criminally charged after police uncovered a coordinated child sexual abuse ring that victimized multiple boys under the age of 15.
Child protection organizations like Destiny Rescue have actively partnered with local police to raid temples where individual cloistered monks were caught exploiting local children and distributing child sexual abuse material online

Lev Tahor - In 2022 a Jewish cult lead by Israeli dual citizens was discovered to be practicing child marriage in Mexico. Two of its members were arrested for rape and human trafficking. In 2024 160 children were rescued from a Lev Tahor compound in Guatemala. After the raid, the groups leaders were acquitted due to lack of evidence. Interior Minister Francisco Jimenez said they were allegedly being abused by a member of the sect. Although considered not to be a nonprofit, much of their money comes from Israeli government welfare benefits.

In the Halakha, Rebecca was three years old when she got married to Isaac.

In the Babylonian Talmud, the Sage Rava explains that for a girl under three years old, her hymen will physically regenerate, so intercourse does not permanently alter her virginity status in Jewish law: "When a grown man has intercourse with a little girl, it is nothing. For when a girl is less than three years old, it is as if one puts a finger into the eye." - Ketubot 11b

In Sanhedrin 54b, the Talmud presents an argument between two different opinions. (Rav and Shmuel) Rav argues that a man can sodomize a boy as long as they are less then 9 years old. Shmuel disagrees, but not for obvious reasons. Instead he diles the number down to 3, arguing that at that age, a child’s sexual acts are not considered full-fledged sexual acts, thus the rapist shouldn't be subject to being punished.

Ruling by the sage Rav Yosef referencing an earlier tractate (Nidda 44b): "A girl who is three years and one day old whose father arranged her betrothal is betrothed with intercourse, as the legal status of intercourse with her is that of full-fledged intercourse." - Sanhedrin 55b

Don't believe me? Hear it from Rabbis themselves...

Rabbi Avraham Meyer Zajac: ''After, where the Torah is saying that a man has a relation with a girl, god forbid, after three...''

Rabbi Chaim Mintz, the founder of Oorah, prominent Jewish outreach organization: ''The maturity of those times are much different from now. Even though Rebecca was only three years old when she got married, a three-year-old then was equal to, who knows, uh, probably a twenty-year-old today.''

Metzitzah B'peh - Metzitzah B'peh is the act of direct oral suctioning by a mohel upon a freshly circumcized baby penis, to promote healing, in holding a spiritual and halakhic significance. In the past, this practice has exposed newborns to fatal STDs such as Herpes.

Circumcision is mandatory for Jews in Israel. A woman was fined $140 for each day she refused to circumcise her son.

Excerpt from A People who Shall Dwell Alone: ''Since marriage occurred long before the possibility of having children in many cases, it is reasonable to suppose that the practice had some other function than simply high fertility. Since the boy would be under the scrutiny of another family, marrying in early adolescence and living with in-laws would presumably result in a great deal of pressure to succeed at scholarship and to avoid the impulsivity and immediate gratification typical of adolescence. There also is some indication that Jews believe that such a practice would make adolescent sexual desire less of a disruptive force. However, there is also evidence that in some cases, the children became permanently repelled by sexual relations as a result of the practice.''
