Michael Rossi was John Wayne Gacy's murder accomplice, who Gacy told investigators about when he got caught, and who was arrested in Gacy victim, John Szyc's car after having stolen fuel from a gas station. Szyc's signature had been forged on the car's title, signing it over to Gacy, who gave it to Rossi. Rossi admitted to forging the signature, but was never prosecuted, either for that or for assisting Gacy in burying bodies. There is a rumor that when Michael Rossi was being questioned for the first time, his mother came into the station and demanded he be let go, because he was the grandson of famous Chicago politician, Vito Marzullo, an ally of the powerful political boss, Mayor Richard J. Daley; or there was an attempt to cover up police incompetence; or they were trying to cover up Chicago's market for young male prostitutes, which any prosecution against Gacy's accomplices would have exposed. John David Norman wad a nationwide male sex trafficking ring, which was centred in Chicago at the time of John Wayne Gacy's crime spree. Gacy and his PDM contractors had connections to Norman thought their mutual employee, Philip Paske. John Wayne Gacy picked up most of his victims in the New Town, Bughouse square and Lincoln Park areas of Chicago, all well known spots for underage male prostitution. However, during Gacy's trial, prosecutors routinely retconned the boys Gacy picked up as hitchhikers or men who had solicited a ride from him.
Gacy was a striver, and had connections in local politics and multiple Chicago civil organizations; he paid a thousand dollars to join the presidents club, and have dinner with Jimmy Carter, although he ended up having dinner with the first lady instead.
After Gacy was arrested, he and his lawyers filed a household inventory, a list of everything in his house, with the Cook County courthouse. Among the items listed were sets of files containing blackmail material about sports figures, politicians and celebrities. Strangely, these files were never entered into evidence, and there's no record of where they ended up after Gacy's arrest. It isn't out of the real of possibility that he had sold some of the tapes of underage gay porn he made to rich and powerful people.
