To stick it to the paparazzi, Britney Spears famously shaved her hair off and attacked a photographer's car with an umbrella: ''I just don't like it when you get in my way of my pictures... I'm a person, just like you.''
In 2008 she checked herself into rehab so she could see her kids. When the time came for her to send them back to their dad, she locked herself in a bathroom with one of her sons, leading her to be admitted to a mental hospital, and her alcoholic father, Jamie Spears, gaining legal conservatorship over her, taking control of her entire estate, personal freedom and income. He also hired Israeli security company, BlackBox to monitor her communications.
By law, a conservatee must be notified five days in advance so they have the opportunity to get their own lawyer before someone takes total control over their life. But her father asked the judge, Reva Goetz, to waive this right, which she granted, keeping Britney in the dark. The same judge hosted a paid event with Britney's co-conservator, Andrew Wallet and Geraldine Wyle, attorney for her father; the event was called Conservatorships for the High-Profile Public Figure.
Britney Spears' manager Lou Taylor had conspired the conservatership with Jamie Spears weeks before it went down. She funneled Spears' revenue into her firm Stonebridge Investment Council, which doubled in its assets during the conservaturship; she also funneled $50K from The Britney Spears Foundation into Mercy Minestries, which Lou was on the Board of; and she was sued for failing to pay out commission for a billion dollar perfume deal she made on Britney's behalf. She even bought a bunch of anti-conservitership domain names to cover up what was going on.
In 2012, Jho Low, from the 1MBD scandal paid to have Britney pop out of his birthday cake, using the money meant for public services he'd embezzled.
In 2020, Britney started acting weird on social media, so a fan asked her to wear yellow in her next post if she needed help. Not only did she wear yellow, but she added a corny caption specifying the color of the shirt.
After a legal battle, she got out of her conservatership in 2021.
