Armenia-Azerbeijan

Azerbaijan supplies roughly 40% to 46% of Israel’s crude oil, which travels through Turkey.

Israel heavily supplied Azerbaijan with advanced weaponry and military equipment used in its conflicts with Armenia, rather than providing direct financial funding. Reports and data trackers indicate that Israeli defense contractors provided a large majority of Azerbaijan's major arms imports in the years leading up to and during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh War and subsequent offensives.

Russian peacekeepers prevented a potential genocide by standing as peacekeepers during the Azerbaijani blockade of the Lachin Corridor and subsequent military offensive in September 2023, which resulted in over 100,000 ethnic Armenians fleeing the region.

Azerian Mafia - In 2025 the Azerian mafia got taken down in Russia, with the arrest of Shahin Shikhlinski, Azerbaijani diaspora organization, Azerbaijan-Ural. (Labor violations; extortion, ethnic protection rackets...) In retaliation Azerbeijan shut down Russian cultural centers.

Around this time, Ilgar Nasibov, a Russian journalist and human rights defender living in Azerboijan would be brutally beaten unconscious by unknown assailants.
