WWI

In 1917, Germany was ready to win the war. After the US declared war on them, an estimated 3 to 4 million more military personnel and several million civilians died worldwide before the armistice.

Famine - The Civilian death toll of Britain's blockade on Germany is estimated at 762,106. During the war, Churchill was First Lord of the Admiralty. In his book, the World Crisis, he wrote: "The British blockade treated the whole of Germany as if it were a beleaguered fortress, and avowedly sort to starve the whole population - men women and children, old and young, wounded and sound, into submission."

Bio Weapons - In a 1919 War Office memorandum, Churchill said: "I do not understand the squeamishness about the use of poison gas. I am strongly in favor of using poison gas against uncivilized tribes. the moral affect should be so good that the loss of life should be reduced to a minimum. It is not necessary to use only the most deadly gasses, gasses can be used which cause great inconveniences and could spread a lively terror, and yet would leave no serious permanent effects on most of those effected."
