Mikvah - A mikvah is a Jewish ritual bath used for purification after a woman’s menstrual cycle. This ritual is performed naked with or without the presence of a rabbi, however for converts to Judaism, the presence of at least one rabbi is required. If a non Jewish woman converts to Judaism they have to do this naked in front of rabbis, who parade around them beforehand. Modern mikveh facilities, such as Mayyim Hayyim in Boston, often use a one-way mirror in a "viewing room" (often called a "modesty window" or "witness window"). This allows observers (such as the Beth Din, or rabbinical court) to witness the immersion while giving the convert privacy in what can be a vulnerable moment.
